My new Canon A520 Powershot

Tag:No Tags

Got this as a replacement for my old camera, a Canon A70 PowerShot. About three months ago my A70 LCD just went black and is not displaying any pictures or images. So I sent it to our local Canon representive to repair it. Well about 2 months later they informed me that they will replace my A70 with A520.

Well what can I say except to agree with the proposal. The A520 is not bad, from the specification it has similar functions to A70 so I think it is an equivalent replacement. So I promptly agreed on the spot.

Nearly a month later my A520 arrived and it was exciting to pick it up. Well I am more than happy with the A520. It is much smaller than A70, uses only 2 AA batteries as compared to 4 in the A70. It has more or less similar functions as the A70, both are 4.0 megapixel camera but A520 has new features too like the “Special Scene” feature. This feature comprise of 8 preconfigured scene modes which you can choose to take photographs. Example for the “Kids & Pets” mode, this is suitable for taking subjects that moved around, such as children and pets, without missing photo opportunities. The other “Special Scenes” are :

  1. Foliage
  2. Snow
  3. Beach
  4. Fireworks
  5. Underwater
  6. Indoor
  7. Night Snapshot

That’s quite a collection of features isn’t it? Also A520 comes with direct print function where images stored in the camera’s memory card can be printed out on a printer directly. You will need a cable to connect to the printer and the printer must be direct print compatible printers which most printer manufaturers including Canon are producing now.

I am still palying around with the A520 and before ending this post I like to mention that there is just one small ” nickpit” about A520, that is the storage media. Well it does not support Compact Flash(CF) as in A70. It is using SD media and included in this replacement, Canon supplied me with a 16MB media card. You can’t do a lot with 16MB and I had a collection of CF cards with me for my previous A70. Well I can’t use these CF cards and guess I have to auction these to buy the SD media cards. This just a small inconvinience on my part, overall as I said earlier I am very happy with my Canon A520.

Here are some links for Canon A520 PowerShot. From Canon.com and from a review of the camera.

That’s the URL of my blog on all things of Flat panel televisions. These are of LCD ( Liquid Crystal Display) or (PDP) Plasma Panel Display. The blog covers news and all things concerning LCD or Plasma. Contents are sourced from a variety of online sources of the same theme. Sometimes it is material from offline sources like magazines or newspaper. It is about two months old now and the url is a subdomain under myinfornet.com.

FlatTV.myinfornet.com is a niche blog and I had placed Google Adsense and Chitika advertisement in it. This of course is for making money purpose when visitors click on the ads. Visitors are still few and far in between. I am still streamlining the blog to attract more traffic to it and learning along the way. I tracked where my traffic is coming from and is using Statscounter service which is free to use. It provides very detail information on visitors, page visited, where they are referred from and lot’s more. I found the information on where they are referred from very usefull especially if they are from the search engines. This is because from these I can know the search terms they used.

Another thing is click through, this need to improve too. At this stage I think driving traffic is the first priority and improving the click through is an ongoing process. In the mean time do drop by and have a look. Here is the link again FlatTV.myinfornet.com

I bought a Free Book

Received an offer in my email for a book called “Building Your Own Adsense Empire”. The offer was tempting and sales letter was even more persuasive. It made you laying awake at night thinking if you should buy it. Well the following day I bought it, feeling happy that I have got a good deal and I beat the date line to buy before the price shoot up.

The following day I load up the book (it’s an ebook) and started to scan what’s all about. Hmm….the contents do look familiar and I was asking where I read it before. I shrugged the feeling off and told myself that I must had read partial extract of the same material some where. However as I continued to read on I realized that I can’t be reading a partial extract before because it’s amost the end of the book and I am very sure by now I had read the material before.

It must be a free ebook I dowloaded before but I couldn’t recall which and when. Then I scoured my collection of PDF documents and in my first attempt I didn’t find any so I was a bit happy but still unsatisfied I attempted the second time. This time I found it and the document name is “Adsense Empire” and it was a free gift from one of my ezine subscription

Ah..what to do? Now I ended buying a book which I had obtained free. I bought a FREE! book….wahahahaha. I was thinking of asking a refund but decided not too. This will served as a lesson and by the way the book cost 9.97 Us dollars.
